The Proper Experience

During our office hours each day in a chiropractic office, our routines may be simple: We go to work, we work, and then we leave. Rarely do we sit back and look at our practices in an objective manner. Taking just ten minutes a month to do so can greatly increase your practice’s referral rates, appearance, and office morale. Here are some basic questions to think about:

 

1) Do you see dirt anywhere? Remember, this is a doctor’s office!

 

2) Is the lighting appropriate? Is it too dark or too bright?

 

3) What does your office smell like? People often become so accustomed to a particular smell that they can stop being able to recognize it themselves. Smell can be associated with different sense memories; for example, when you smell “cookies,” you might associate that sensation with feelings of “home,” “family,” or “Grandma.” Use this awareness to help people enjoy being in your office.

 

4) As a patient, when we first walk into a doctor’s office and are waiting to be seen, what do we do? We look around, analyze the environment, and reach a conclusion. That said, nothing is more important than having your office appear neat and organized. Well, one thing is more important, but let’s leave that for another day…
